For a while now, I heard from countless friends how incredible Ze Pickle was. How each burger melts your insides and by the time you're finished you just feel like star-fishing the floor and hibernate for a good 4 days. I told myself, "Fuck the imaginative diet you thought you had, go for it!", and boy did I. After consuming what can only be described as heaven meets hell, I HAD to write this article. Literally, I would bath in the ZP Sauce. #FuckCleanEating #LetsDoThisShit
So when you walk in the entrance, you feel like you're in Pan's Labyrinth, but with really sick graffiti. As you weave your way inside you're welcomed by an industrial dungeon which doubles as an underground bar... That's literally the best way to describe it. Like if burgers and deliciousness was illegal and you had to find a place on the DL, this would be the place. It's different, it's unique and kind of gives off a "fuck normal" vibe, which is definitely a definitive factor that attracts customers again and again. This place has a shit tonne of alcohol, plenty of space and a lot of neon-- I've found my home.
Let's just start this off by one of my favourite menu selections on Planet Earth. If you've never tried Ze Chips, you seriously need to re-evaluate your life. I have NEVER had chips like this. I am convinced there is crack in the sauce because it keeps me coming back for more. The crispy chips are served with IPA beer cheese sauce, maple smoked bacon & ZP sauce. I'm not going to lie, I'd eat one of these by myself if I didn't feel like a burger or a dough-burger (we'll get to that soon.) At $12.50 it may seem a bit excessive for chips, but this plate is bigger than my university debt. Trust me, it's worth the money and the calories.
What can we say about the 3AM Burger... In 3 words? Thank, You. Jesus.
This burger has diabetes written all over it but it's too good to resist. With hand pressed wagyu beef, maple smoked bacon, Kanye's fried cheese sticks, guacamole and ZP sauce, we're finding it very hard not to call 000. The cheese sticks were done perfectly. The cheese melted beautifully, the crumbed shell was lightly crispy and I had two diabetic tablets and a litre of water after I finished it. I'm kidding... I had four. Everything was juicy and just cooked really well. The only critique I would give is changing the name from 3AM to The Yeezy.
And here's the main event. If these three selections were Destiny's Child, this would be the Beyonce. The Doughnutfukwitdis burger is OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. Teaming up with Doughnut Time, Ze Pickle has created the most incredible dough-burger that Australia has ever witnessed. Though it may look tiny, it has the same calories as two Big Mac burgers. Why? Listen up. We start off with a original glazed Doughnut Time doughnut, wagyu beef patty, melted jack cheese and bacon marinated in Nutella. NUTELLA PEOPLE. One bite and you know what it feels like to be loved again. Thank you to the cow for being the mince in my patty, the dairy in my cheese and the milk in my Nutella. You the real MVP. If you doubt you'd like it, remember that my cousin who hates doughnuts is also gluten intolerant, and she smashed this burger. #DedicationToTheGains
And to finish off our Type 2 Diabetes, we have the Oreogazm. I'm now convinced the owners of Ze Pickle are batshit crazy. The dessert consists of deep fried Oreos in doughnut batter, topped with ice cream and liquid Nutella. So just to clarify, after eating a doughnut with Nutella bacon, we ate Oreo doughnuts with liquid Nutella. I'm surprised I'm still alive to write this article. This was a delicious end to the feast, the doughnut batter was a little soggy but that happens when you mount it with ice cream and sauce. Overall, Ze Pickle has done an incredible job making Queensland chubbier and I must say this won't be the last time I'll be going to Ze Pickle, or the toilet. #LiquidNutella #TooFar
Thank you for having us Ze Pickle and we look forward to the next set of creations you make!
