Yes my friend, The Wickham has bomb-ass food. Restaurant quality in fact. At first, I went for the $20 PIMMS cocktail jugs with a side of drunken Jumanji and a self-guilt trip to Donut Boyz, but recently I discovered the holy menu of goodness. With everything from Arancini Balls with Truffle Aioli (girl. I know, put the word truffle in anything and I'll be swinging from the chandelier) to the Pork Belly Fritters with Maple Bourbon Glaze and Pickled Chillies-- The Wickham got what you need hunty! *insert independent black woman voice*
Enter the Pulled Pork Slaw Burger. If you're an avid pulled pork fan, this is for you. This shit is not only pretty, it's deliciously packed full of ingredients. I like my burgers to be spilling out the sides, like me if I tried to wear spanks. #MuffinTopLife
Personally, I'm not usually a fan of pulled pork as it can taste a little bit like tuna, but this was not bad. Not my favourite out of the bunch but still really delicious and a good balance of flavours. BUT DAMN LOOK HOW GOOD THAT BURGER PHOTOGRAPHS, I MEAN COME ON. #FoodPorn #AttemptingToBreathe #Call000
And let's just give the PIMMS Cocktail jug a round of applause people, this is just the best drink for summer, especially when Brisbane has decided to turn itself into Abu Dhabi with this 8273642 degree heat. Also, I love to trick myself into thinking it's healthy. In my head I'm like "LOOK! FRUIT! HEALTHY!", and my stomach's like "GYM! TOMORROW! FATTY!" It's amazing value and you get about 6 drinks out of one jug. Okay! Onto more food!
The Pork Belly Fritters. DAMN BOY! Everything from the pork to the glaze to the radish, it was just balanced perfectly. Just an amazing dish. I'm not just saying this, I mean it. Like, if I died tomorrow and had to choose my last dishes to eat, this would be in the Top 5 for sure.
And I thought only Asian's had mastered Honey Chicken. If this doesn't get you running your ass down to The Wickham, I don't know what will. This is the Honey Chicken with toasted sesame, coriander and sriracha sauce. Gotta tell you though, not really a fan or sriracha, but the honey took away most of the spice.
These Arancini Balls... these are my entire life. I'm not kidding here, I would gladly have a birthday cake tower of arancini balls with truffle aioli drizzled over the top. For those not familiar with this ball of heaven, arancini are melted mozzarella and rice balls coated in breadcrumbs and fried. Inside The Wickham's arancini's, there is a small pocket of delicious mushrooms that balance the fried base and make it stand out from the traditional Italian recipe.
At this point of the blog I'm seriously tempted to get a job at The Wickham so I can have this squid dish every damn day. The Salt and Pepper Squid with Lemon and Garlic Aioli surpassed my expectations, especially due to the fact that The Wickham is not a seafood restaurant or by the water. The squid is by far one of the best I've had. There's only one place I know of that has better squid than this, and it's a tiny family owned Greek shop in Currumbin. We were recommended the dish by the fabulous Mya, our waitress for the day. #AbsolutelyFlawless #GuysPromoteHerShesAmazing
So after we consumed a whole spread of delicious food, we thought: "Fuck it, Donut Boyz here we come!". Dear Wickham, thank you for making this partnership. Whether I'm hungover from food or alcohol, Donut Boyz is always open to fill my pregnant belly with chocolate-ty goodness. Enter the Nut-ella-- Cinderella's obese second cousin. Nut-ella is a marvel, she is packed full of a gourmet chocolate hazelnut custard (it's like Nutella but not so heavy), ganache and topped with hazelnuts. I'm not sure if marrying a donut is legal (or ethical) but I'll be damned if I can't try.
Whether you visit The Wickham for the cocktails, the food, the free delicious fruit infused water or the donuts, there's something for everyone. Literally, I could bring my grandma here and she'd turn up with some apple cider and a game of Jumanji.
Thank you for having us Wickham! We look forward to the next time we stop past to rob you for all your arancini balls, mwahahaha!
